Once
you've cut, basted, appliquéd and quilted your first Hawaiian-style
quilt masterpiece, you'll realize that it really is a lot easier in
many ways than traditional appliquéd quilts with tiny pieces
and less threatening than putting together myriad colors of little
fabric pieces for the patchwork-style quilts.
Not
that Hawaiian style appliqué can't be intricate and time
consuming, but one usually starts on a small project without too
many points ad curves. That way you can gain expertise and control
of your needle working on long straight or gentle curves done in
long stretches of the design.
We've
included a pop up materials list that you can print out and basic
illustrated instructions for folding, cutting, basting, appliqué
and quilting which will get you started on your first project.
We
also offer a wonderful teaching video "Welcome
to my Garden" by a wonderful quilting teacher, known to
her students as Konia (Sonjya Oberosler) who takes you step by step
toward completing your first pillow size block project. We think
this 45 minute video is a must, even for those of you who have already
made your first project.
Please
use these instructions and your choice of one of our free
patterns to get you started on you Hawaiian-style quilt adventure.
